Fashion for Plus Size Women

By Expert Author: Jennie Gandhi

According to plus size supermodel, Liis Windischmann, "Beauty is found in various sizes. We need to stop defining women by size and simply accept that beauty comes in all forms"
The fashion world may be largely biased towards plus size women, but that doesn't mean designers are going the same way. With many voluptuous women demanding stylish clothes which are hip and trendy, designers are capitalizing on this market by creating fashion apparel meant specifically for the 14+ size.
But they still have a long way to go. Fashion experts are slowly trying to fill the demand for high-end curvy fashion. For women who are petite and plump, getting clothes stitched is another option. By working closely with your tailor, he can design clothes for your body which will fit you like a second glove. It's not necessary to stick to the rules. You can bend, even break them. If you're bored with the usual stripes, experiment with vertical elements or look for a shirt with a little embroidery or lace edging on the blouse. If you are purchasing stripes, stick to vertical lines.
Add a blazer or cardigan if you're going for a monochromatic effect. Accessorize yourself with scarves, pantyhose, belts and jewelry. Look for scarves with long vertical ends. Wear thin belts and avoid big bulky ones. Long necklaces or pendants on a V-neck; add more glamour and suaveness to your attire, giving your neck an elongated finish. Wear heels which have an inch or two of heel in them. If you are petite and a plus sized beauty, go for smaller prints so that your outfit isn't too overwhelming.
Mix and match always. Don't be afraid to go for different proportional outfits. Avoid fabrics that will cling to your body so that they do not highlight your curves and make them stand out. Find a signature style for yourself. Once you discover you're best feature, emphasize it as much as possible. If there are some designs in your wardrobe which you love wearing focus on buying or stitching things similar to them. When accessorizing don't go overboard, try and complement your figure, not compete with it.
To show off your lovely legs, try a one piece dress, one which will highlight your curves well, silhouetting your figure. Capris and wide trendy pants can make you look skinnier and taller at the same time. Pump these up with high heels for good measure.
With the fashion industry making more room for plus size models and designers joining the bandwagon by starting plus size lines, women who are above a size 12 no longer have to sacrifice fashion trends or quality. But more than the latest trends, you have to feel confident of your body as a woman. Just because a certain trend is all the rage, doesn't mean it is for you.

Look Great In Plus Size Jeans

By: Andrea Morris

Ladies think that shopping for plus size jeans is harder than it is shopping for jeans that aren't plus size. The truth is that all women have problems finding great jeans, no matter what shape and size they are. It is a fact that jeans are notoriously hard to find, at least jeans that fit well and look great. Sure you could squeeze into a pair of jeans and they might even look okay, but will they feel okay or will you be miserable all day long? Shopping for plus size jeans does not have to be a battle; for those out there who need a bit of extra help finding the perfect pair of jeans for their body, here are a few things that you should keep in mind the next time you go out jean shopping.
Keep in mind when purchasing plus size jeans that there is a difference between plus sizing and just plain too big and too baggy. You need to learn to love your body just the way it is and avoid clothing that hides your figure. There isn't a woman out there who doesn't have issues with her body and needs to work on certain aspects. However, trying to disguise problem areas with baggy jeans only makes you look a lot larger and does not flatter you at all. There are many different types of jeans available to fit all body types, so try on different jeans until you find the ones that really fit your body. You may need to have professional help in finding your ideal jeans, and if nothing else works, you can always have your jeans professionally tailored.
The famous opinion when it comes to fashion is that black has always looked good for all those with few extra pounds since it makes them look slim. This is an old wives' tale. Though black makes one look slim, buying black plus sized jeans won't make one look slimmer. Rather than attaching importance to the color, it is always advisable that the priority be given to the tailoring, cut and style. Though it may sound alarming, the fact is that black is not the best of choices and it is just another color like blue, white or red in plus sized jeans. Size is all that matters and not color.
Every body type looks better in certain cuts of plus size jeans than in others. A lot depends on what shape your body is and how the weight is distributed. You need to give a lot of consideration to the style of jeans you're looking for. Are you trying to accentuate your narrow waist? Or are you trying to hide a large belly? What you want to accomplish will make a difference in what you want to buy. Once again, a tailor can come in handy in helping you get just the right jeans for you.
Don't despair! While it can be daunting trying to locate jeans in large sizes, if you persevere you should be able to turn up large jeans tailored to your body's shape. Put in the time and effort to try on lots of brands, both established ones and ones new to the market, and you will finally find what you've been looking for.

Women Fashion Trends

By Juliet Cohen

Women fashion trends borrow heavily from trends for grown ups, but include one important distinction: teen fashions exist within strictly enforced fashion subcultures. For most womens, clothing is short-hand for declaring which clique they belong to. Womens tend to dress in clothing that announces their affiliations and interests with crystal clarity.
Women's fashion will be moving toward stylish and elegant femininity this summer with pants taking a back seat to dresses and skirts. Bright colors are making a comeback this year with red-orange and fuchsia taking center stage. Cool, neutral colors may make a splash this summer in lavender and aqua shades. For women who prefer darker tones, brown is predicted to be the new black with trendy colors ranging from rich chocolate to light khaki.
Top 8 Trends in Women's Fashion
1. Dress Her in Complete Looks.
2. Skinny Jeans.
3. Fun Shoes that Really Express Her Personality.
4. Special Clothes That Will Make Her Stand Out.
5. Leggings Worn Under a Short Skirt.
6. Longer Tees and Other Long Tops.
7. Pastel Prints and How to Wear Them.
8. Designer or Designer Inspired Jeans.
Women should select right dress according to the type of body. Before choosing any dress, determine the type of body, as there are different height and weight and age.
1. One should wear free flowing clothes in a single tone for getting a slim and long look. Try fabrics such as georgette or chiffon for dresses.
2. One should wear clothes according to size. Loose fitting clothes do not give good look to anyone. One must wear fitted clothes to look gorgeous.
3. One must be careful about wearing accessories as these speak more than dress. Therefore always watch out accessories.
4. Women should be sure about jeweler; it can suit one's face.
5. If one has thin waist, wear belts for feeling comfortable.
6. One should invest in the bags, a basic wardrobe and shoes.
7. Women should not following trends of fashion blindly.

The Top Three Prada Bags Of All Time

By: Casandra Brooks

Nine times out of ten, getting a Prada handbag is going to be a good fashion investment. Today, the vast majority of these bags look really nice, are versatile and are trendy additions to your wardrobe. But there are three special bags that Prada has made that are going to stand the test of time and that you going to just keep on carrying season after season, and year after year.
So, what are the best Prada handbags? These are purses that women can carry them around because they are versatile, made of high-quality materials and trendy.
Prada Prize #3: The third best Prada bag is the Prada bowling bag, which came out this year. This bag is cute and timeless, which means that you will be able to carry it wherever you go. Another great about this bag with two small handles is that you can get it in several colors and styles. The Prada bowling bag is boxy and big enough to hold almost anything that you would need. Whether you want it in red, green or a classical color like black, you'll be able to find it.
Prada Prize #2: The second best Prada bag doesn't have a name, but the BR2375 is total luxury. Made from buffalo leather (how the buffalos got to Italy is beyond me, but somehow Prada made it happens), this bag is soft and delish. The bag has a push lock closure and the back flap folds over the front of the bag to close it. Everyone will know you are carrying a Prada because of the metal faceplate. This bag is classic and classy.
Prada Prize #1: The number one Prada bag is the shopper's leather shoulder tote. You may be wondering why a shoulder tote is the number one Prada handbag, and the answer is simple. If you are able to carry a Prada bag with a retail price of over $1000 to the grocery store, and are able to put your purchases from the mall in such a luxurious bag, people are always going to equate you with this bag. With this Prada bag, you are going to be able to carry it everywhere, and everyone will be jealous of your bag.
Now that you know the top three Prada bags, you may want to know the three Prada bags that you should keep your fingers off of. Sure, the celebrities and super models can get away with carrying these bags, but the average woman will just look like a clown with these bags.
Bad Bag #3: Unless you just escaped from the circus or are a nanny, keep away from the Prada Plex Stampato Tote. This bag just looks like a mess. Plus, with a retail price of about $1200 it's not an affordable mess. Once you carry it, you'll not be able to carry it again, because everyone will notice this loud bag.
Bad Bag #2: For $2,600, women can get the Prada bag of the future: the metallic gaufre messenger bag. If you are planning on dressing like Judy Jetson for Halloween, this may be the right bag. Otherwise, you may want to pass. Puffy, shiny and quilted aren't really a good mix.
Bad Bag #1: The Prada Napa Fringe Hobo is another bag that ordinary women won't be able to carry. Carrying this purse would make any normal woman look like there was a small animal growing out of her arm. The best advice for this bag is to let the celebrities carry it, and just laugh at them.
Sure, Prada is known for good bags, but there are a lot of them that you should not buy. If you think about your purchase and go for a classic bag, you'll be able to carry it around for a long time.

How To Buy Good Quality Children’s Clothing

By: Frank12

It is very convenient to pick out and purchase your children clothing or baby clothing online but it can sometimes be costly. In fact, a lot of parents are spending more than they expected for their childrens clothing. What they should recognize is the presence of various online stores that offer good quality kids clothes at affordable prices.
Online stores that offer children's clothing and clothing for babies have become increasingly famous since they serve as alternatives to acquiring the same goods that you usually buy at children's boutiques and shops. With online shopping, it makes it convenient for you since all you have to do is navigate and click. It saves you time and effort. Moreover, you will be presented with a wide array of clothes to choose from. Boys shirts, girls dresses, baby clothes, accessories and other kids clothes and accessories are available for certain ages and sizes, you will surely find what you're looking for. It makes it easier for you to compare prices, colors and styles too. Also, you won't have to deal with salespeople who keep pressuring you while you're looking around.
It is important that you know of good quality brands for your childrens clothing. A shirt that is manufactured by a well-known and trusted company lasts longer and does not have stain problems. It can even appear like new after your kid wear it several times already and after many washings. When your child no longer needs the clothing, probably because your kids have grown taller and bigger, you may resell them at online children stores for lower prices. Brands such as tadpole and lilypad, anavini, babynotag, paris chere and fun bath are perceived to be of good quality by most parents.
It is easy to find quality clothes for children websites online. But first, make sure to use a reliable search engines such as Google, Yahoo, AOL, MSN or Altavista. Then, all you have to perform is standard internet search by inputting keywords or terms in search engines such as "clothes for babies" or "children's clothing" or "Quality todler clothing" and hitting the search button. To find local kid clothing websites, include your city or state along with the keywords for instance "NJ kids clothing", "quality clothing for kids in NJ" or "toddler clothes in NJ". In seconds, you will find a list of websites. From your visited sites, carefully look at images of kids clothing and their corresponding prices. Then compare similar items with their respective prices and select the best website for your childs clothes.
When you have finally selected the items you want to purchase, you will have to fill out an order form. Verify the site is secure when ordering. You can tell because you will see https instead of just http in the address bar. There are some indications that a site guarantees a secure and safe ordering place for its customers. Some sites allow their customers to return the items they purchased from them, especially clothes, at anytime and for any reason. The site must only ask relevant information from you such as your address for dropping your order package, credit card number for your payment, or an email address for you to check the status of your order and nothing more. Any information asked of you should be necessary, timely and appropriate for the purpose of processing your order and delivery.
Buying your kids clothes should not be costly. Visit online stores and check the quality of their products and how much they cost. Be careful when giving out any of your confidential and financial information to protect yourself from online threats.

Style Yourself With Polymer Clay Jewelry

By: David H Urmann

Learn about the variety of unique jewelry you can create with polymer clay. This article discusses more about the various jewelry pieces you can create with polymer clay.
In the creative and striking world of jewelry design, there are many different materials available for artisans to make into jewelry. However, the most common choice include typical materials such as metals, gemstones, and possibly glass, but if you look at other available options you will find that there are many other things that can be made into excellent jewelry.
And one such material to make jewelry and perhaps the most popular new sensation in jewelry is polymer clay. Polymer clay is a definite type of clay that is quite different from modeling or pottery clay. It is fashioned from PVC plastic and a type of plasticizer chemical that keeps the clay moldable and soft until it baked into a final shape. Once you use this material, you will find that there are certainly many opportunities while working with it.
Many people will wonder how the polymer clay jewelry gets all the colors and sparkle that most of them exhibit and catch the eye. This can be added to it through the use of micas, which are colored pigments, and metallic sparkles and kaolin clay which makes the polymer opaque, make it a very diverse and easily workable medium for creation.
This type of the clay is also definitely a good choice for people who are interested in making jewelry at home. Another great part of polymer clay is that it does not need high temperatures to be baked; in fact for the proper results a home oven can do the job.
With the wide popularity, artisans can also find a couple of brands that are well known. These brands include FIMO and Sculpy. Finding these brands is not a difficult task as most of the major craft stores and suppliers carry these brands of clay in many different colors, ranging from fluorescent and day glow hues to metallic shades like silver and gold.
In this material, the metallic colors can easily be shaped and used as a replacement for working in the metals themselves, which makes jewelry creation more accessible to designers.
Another amazing benefit this material offers is the lesser number of tools that are needed in order to fashion and create jewelry. Most designers conveniently use a pasta roller machine in order to flatten their clay to desired thickness, and also to acclimatize the clay for use. With this the clay can be easily rolled and shaped into whatever designs the designer wants to use it for.
If you want a piece of jewelry that is colorful, less costly and unique then definitely try something made out of this material. Whether you choose to buy it ready made or create your own pieces, this clay jewelry can be a great way to express yourself.
Once you have the basics down, experiment with different varieties and brands, each of which has a different level of pliability. You can also get this clay in a variety of effects, such as translucent, iridescent, and glow-in-the-dark, to create beads and jewelry that are truly unmatched.

Leather Wallets

By: Craig Walenta

No one really knows how the word 'wallet' came into existence, or who invented the modern day wallet. The word "wallet" has been in use since the 14th century to mean a bag or a knapsack for carrying articles, and the word possibly derives from Proto-Germanic. The modern day wallet first made an appearance in the 1950s and continuous improvements have made the modern day wallet a compact yet handy storage item. Contrary to popular belief, wallets were not always made of leather, and manufacturers have continuously experimented with materials like PVC for manufacturing wallets.
Wallets are broadly classified into two categories based on their size, namely breast pocket wallets (popularly known as secretary wallets) and pocket wallets. Pocket wallets are smaller then secretary wallets and are designed to be carried in the back pocket of pants and jeans. Pocket wallets are usually made from leather and the term leather wallets has now become synonymous with pocket wallets. Interestingly, leather wallets have evolved to cater to developments in technology and the way money changes hands. Wallets were originally designed to store large currency notes; in fact this was why secretary wallets were extremely popular a century ago. Modern day leather wallets however, are designed to store currency that is smaller in size. In addition, pocket wallets have also started sporting small coin compartments for storing loose change.
Modern wallets are also designed for storing business cards and credit cards. In fact, some secretary wallets are deigned to store credit cards only, such wallets are often referred to as card holders and are not considered wallets in the traditional sense of the word. Leather wallets are no longer made from just traditional leather, today leather wallets are made from a variety of animal leather like crocodile leather.
Leather wallets are a generally a composite of more than one material, the exterior is leather where as the inside of a leather wallet is usually made from PVC and other new age materials. Expensive leather wallets are usually made from more than one variety of leather. For example, a crocodile leather wallet will have a crocodile leather exterior and the inside of the leather wallet will be made from relatively cheaper animal leather.
Secretary wallets are usually twice the size of a pocket wallet and are designed to store larger documents in addition to currency and credit cards. Secretary wallets are designed to be carried in the breast pocket of jackets and suits, and are ideal for people that wish to store passports and other important documents. However, secretary wallets are not as easy to carry as pocket wallets. Secretary wallets are popular with people that wear jackets and suits on a daily basis, and like pocket wallets, secretary wallets are made from leather and other new age materials. Apart from wallets another popular way of carrying money is money clips. Money clips are large metallic clips that hold money in place, money clips are designed to be carried in the front pocket.
Secretary Wallets vs. Pocket Wallets
By and large, secretary wallets are ideally suited for executives as they allow storage of important documents like passports, it is also possible to store other items like access cards and business cards. Unlike pocket wallets, secretary wallets cannot be stored in the back pocket and are thus ideally suited for use with suits or have to be carried by hand at all times. In general, secretary wallets are used to store credit cards and important documents, but secretary wallets are not suited for everyday use. Pocket wallets can be used with any kind of clothing and this is why pocket wallets far outsell secretary wallets. In addition, pocket wallets also have space for storing credit cards but cannot store larger items like passports.

Trends in Stylish Swimwear

By : Nicky Pilkington

Swimwear has become so fashionable that you may not be aware of all the styles that are available.
One of the more popular types of stylish swimwear available is the tankini. This swimsuit features a top that looks similar to a blouse. The bottom part of the swimsuit is a traditional bikini bottom. This style of swimsuit is available in a wide array of colors and patterns. If you purchase several pair you can easily mix and match to create your own style. If you're not interested in exposing much skin, you can easily find a tankini that covers more of your skin. In addition to being fashionable, tankinis are also designed for comfort. Since the top part of the bathing suit resembles a blouse, some of these swimsuits are available with cushion or padding.
Are you planning to attend a private gathering or are you feeling daring? Exotic swimwear is probably the option for you. Exotic swimwear includes bathing suits that expose more of your body or that are designed with unique shapes and styles. You don't have to feel compelled to expose your body the entire time you're wearing the bathing suit. There are a variety of cover-ups available on the market. You can even find exotic swimwear with a cover-up option.
When you think of exotic swimwear you probably think of women. The website mySwim.net features exotic swimwear for both men and women. The styles for men feature swimwear made of very sheer material. Fashion Clothing Goes Bullet Proof

Author: Dexter James

Anyone, even if least interested in fashion, will jump out of his/her seat, if told about this new genre of fashion. But those, who know what does it mean to be safe on one hand and fashionable on the other, will tell not only the benefits of this "bullet-proof' fashion, but also they will sing a praise-song for Miguel Caballero, a Colombia born.
Commonly, he is termed as "Armani of Armour" in the world of fashion. According to the reports, he was very much perturbed by the killings of people, especially the important ones, in the civil war of his country. Hence, this catastrophic situation sparked in him the inspiration to use fashion not for its centuries old purpose, but to save the lives of people. A completely different and bizarre use of fashion, indeed.
1992 was the year when he launched his unique version of fashion apparels in order to keep the bullets, fired with evil intentions, away from the innocent lives. This happened after his stay in Bogota, where he studied, which had proved a fashion laboratory for him. He was quite fascinated by the bullet-proof apparel worn by his classmates. Most importantly, most of them were offspring of famous personalities of Columbia.
When he provided some very accurate and safe services in Columbia, he got a series of clients begging him for his assistance. Apart from Hugo Chavez and Alvaro Uribe, the presidents of Venezuela and his very Columbia respectively, he got some other famous clients such as King Abdullah of Jordan and Hollywood Action Star, Steven Seagal. However, these 1.2 Kilograms bullet-proof jackets can be bought at the famous Harrods in London by anyone.
He got his clients all around the globe. Being famous and rich, they never wanted to compromise with their fashion quotient. Hence, they wanted to be safe. At that period, Caballero's "bullet-proof and fashionable" apparels came to their rescue. Now, their blazers, shirts, leather jackets and even the ties have gone bullet-proof. It means, there is the surety of a complete safe and fashionable life to them.

Fashion Discoveries Through the Years: 1900-1990

Author: Priyanka Arora

In the 20th century, the war and social revolutions brought definite changes to the fashion industry. The most important change might be the women's fight against politic and social restrictions. On the first years, the corset disappeared and women's natural silhouette was modeled in the streets along with their legs showing down their skirts.
On the 30's, the French designer, Coco Chanel reinvented women's fashion by adding an original piece to their wardrobe, one that was only used by men back in the day: pants.
Since that moment, every little detail added to a piece of clothing, every invention, every try, has been considered fashion. These last years, the relation between fashion and advertising has transformed the fashion and textile industry in one of the most financially important worldwide.
There have been key items discovered through the years, in 1914, the first bra ever invented was introduced, and by 1934 the first ever male brief was commercialized. Nylon was presented in 1939 and by 1940 women were already using pants, thanks to the revolution and Coco Chanel's inspiration. After pants, by 1955 the popular jean was revolutionizing Europe, where 5 years later, the famous lycra was invented by Du Pont de Nemours.
The 60's were a different era, the young generation positioned themselves in a place where everything was prohibited, the mini skirt now showed the knees and more, music played a huge part in fashion in the 60's, retro fashion was born and The Beatles, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin and even Jim Morrison were the trendsetters for fashion. The hippie "Power Flower" fashion was more than a fashion trend; it was a social movement, introduced by the Hindu religion being praised in this decade, especially influenced by artists like George Harrison and Jane Fonda.
Entering the 70's, women were forced to be skinny because of the fashion inspiration in mini dresses, and tight pants, especially influenced by Twiggy and "Saturday Night Fever", transporting the lifestyle to nighttime and heavy partying. Punk fashion started appearing by 1975 and entering the 80's, with a touch of femininity by using underwear inspired lace accessories with your clothing. Everything was bigger, makeup, hair styles, blouses, even bows used in the hair. Michael Jackson and Madonna were the biggest inspiration using leather, lace, gloves, and unusual accessories. On the elegant side, "Dynasty" and Lady Di created a romantic style movement involving hats, ruffles and shoulder pads.
Jeans were popularized in the 80's with their acid pre washed colors and Billy Idol's punk look was used by every guy that wished to be a rock star, while on the contrary, Miami Vice's look was essential for every elegant man that wanted a unique style. The 80's were some years where people searched for their own look, and everything was allowed. Bright colors and shoulder pads were highlighted in the 80's and continued on to the early 90's; this movement is still considered as the worst historic moment for fashion.

Tips For Making Your Swimsuits Last Longer

Author Abdul Martin

The following guidelines will help you keep your swimsuits in a great shape but accept the fact that swimsuits have a short lifespan. More so if you swim in chlorinated water and spend long hours in hot tubs. However the following tips will help you maintain your swimsuits nice and fit for a longer time.
1—To slow down the fading of color soak your swimsuit in a mixture of vinegar and water for about half an hour. Use one spoon vinegar and one quart of water.
2—If the swimsuit is already saturated with clean water then it absorbs less chlorinated water, so shower with fresh water before you move into the pool.
3—After you finish the swimming pool fun do wash your swimsuit with cool water and rinse a little.
4—Use of a suit cleaner will extend the life of your swimsuit.
5—Wash your swimsuits and rinse in cool water. Roll up in a clean, lint free, and light-colored or fade resistant towel and squeeze again.
6—Air-dry and not sun dry.
7—Do not machine-wash your swimsuit.

The Beauty Of Old Fashioned Aprons

By: SKG9

Old fashioned aprons would probably have to mean something that is not new. Aprons that were worn by our ancestors and even in times before that. One thing is for certain, aprons have always been necessary as a means of keeping oneself clean and tidy during particular duties.
Old fashioned aprons were generally a lot bigger than they are today. They would have fancy ruffles and bows and extras on them that would make them appear more like a dress or full garment than just something to keep you clean! If you look for patterns for aprons for styles even from the 1950's, you will find a large, rather flamboyant type of cover all, probably because back then, housework was much more readily done than it is today. Modern conveniences like washing machines, and dishwashers have cut down considerably the amount of housework that needs to be done. For this reason, aprons are not quite as popular as they once were. Back in the 1950's when housework took up a large part of the average housewife's day, of course fashions would have been prevalent, along with other styles of clothing that one wears a lot.
These days, one is interested in buying a functional apron, one that perhaps is waterproof and plain that either male or female would wear. The chef type apron, probably just white or black or striped. Back in the days though, old fashioned aprons would have large ruffled frills over each shoulder for example, have plenty of frills around the pockets, consist of several other types of frill and probably also be in a garish flowery pattern, very colorful and very feminine. The only place a man would wear an apron like that would be in a pantomime!
What we are investigating here then is how women would have completed much of the housework back then which is very interesting isn't it? Before these times, aprons were still very frilly, look at the type that maids would have worn, or even cooks back in the time where a family would employ a staff to look after them. You would never see a butler wearing an apron or a gardener, so if an apron depicts work, who really did all the work? Interesting...
So we have discovered that old fashioned aprons were normally larger and more frilly than they are today, were generally more fashionable in the 1950's and were mostly worn by women. I wonder if Gordon Ramsay would have worn one a hundred years ago... with all those frills around, the mind boggles!
Old fashioned aprons would be a lot harder to make as well. A pattern for an old fashioned apron would be rather extensive as all the separate frills would have to be cut and sewn individually and applied to the apron as it was constructed. What about ironing an old fashioned apron? It could be made from one of those fabrics that creases easily... and who would have to iron them back in the days when there were maids, who ironed the maids apron? If the maid ironed her own apron, she would need a spare and that would mean two to iron!
I am very glad that we live in a world full of modern conveniences so that we don't have all this excess housework these days, thank goodness for fabrics that don't need ironing. No wonder the old fashioned apron is just that, old fashioned! Hail the new fashioned apron!

What Would a Fashion Model's Diet Plan be

 by: Mary Watson

Have you ever wondered how the so-called super models manage to get in such good shape and stay trim, even after having a family?
Fashion models depend on their slim figures for their livelihood, so it's imperative that they always look good. Don't worry, I'm not suggesting that you should embark on a diet of leaves and nuts. I'm not an advocate of the size zero, but I'm sure you'll find it interesting to know what sort of diet a fashion model would choose.
The Fashion Models Diet Plan
A favourite way for models to look good is to "Cleanse" or "Fast". This is not a complete starvation diet, as it will include the intake of soups and fruit juices over a 3 to7 day period. It is more of a detox routine and is gernerally only carried out once or twice a year.
The benefits of this detox is to obviously rid the body of harmful toxins, such as preservatives and food additives together with inhaled smoke and fumes. It also gives the colon a chance to rid the digestive system of any fecal build up. The results can be dramatic as the liver and kidneys are able to repair and replace damaged cells instead of continuing to rid the body of toxins.
A typical "Cleanse" diet might consist of a combination of fresh carrots, celery, beet, spinach, apple, coconut, broth and juices. Citrus and tomato juices are too acidic to drink while fasting so these should be avoided. It's important to drink plenty of water during the detox and avoid consuming any unnecessary medications or supplements.
The advantages of a detox are weight loss, reduced body odour, shinier finger nails, stronger hair, reduced cellulite, a glowing complexion and more beautiful eyes.
After the detox, the typical fashion model will then begin her normal eating habits, which to some people may appear to be a "real" diet. However, it will simply be a healthy balanced diet, which might typically consist of the following:
---Breakfast (9am)
One boiled egg with a slice of wholewheat bread
A bowl of cereal with skimmed milk
Black coffee
Total 369 calories
---Lunch (12.30pm)
Turkey salad with balsamic vinaigrette
Cup of tea with skimmed milk
Total 320 calories
---Early Evening Snack (4.30pm)
Low fat Jell-O pudding
Total 100 calories
---Dinner (8pm)
Lean Cuisine chicken a l'orange with rice
2 slices of low fat cheddar cheese with wholewheat crackers
Total 448 calories
The total calorie intake for a typical day is 1237. The aim of the diet is to keep the daily calorie count below 1500.
This is a typical example of a fashion model's diet, which will also involve some form of aerobic exercises 3 times a week.
So, as you can see it's not at all what you might have originally thought. It's just a sensible eating plan and a sensible exercise routine. However, if even this diet seems a little too much to stomach, you could try a natural herbal diet remedy.
Here are the top 5 tips that fashion models highly recommend for staying in trim.
1. Decrease your alcohol consumption. Alcohol suppresses the body's ability to burn fat.
2. Eat more Black Pepper, Ginger, Chile Peppers. Spicy food helps speed up the body's metabolism.
3. Increase your muscle mass. Muscle burns fat, so adding 5lbs of muscle will help you burn another 250 calories a day.
3. Increase your vitamin B and Calcium intake. The B-Vitamins give you more energy and increase your metabolism.
4. Drink More Water. A healthy, well-hydrated body is important to flush out toxins and aid in metabolising fats
5. Increase your intake of Omega-3 Fatty Acids. Omega 3 fatty acids can help to balance blood sugar levels and control appetite.

Do you Look Good on the Dance Floor? Indie-rock Musicians Initiate a Revolution in Men's Fashion

Author: Martin Mcallister

The clothes worn by musicians have always sent shockwaves through the fashion industry, helping to stimulate trends that have gone down in history. Today, things are no different. It's no secret that guitar music has leapt into the charts of late, and that over the last few years, indie-rock groups have become a mainstay in the local media. In fact, music magazines like the NME have been flying off the shelves with the newfound popularity of these bands. However, just as their music has become increasingly ingrained in the mainstream, so too have their fashion trends. From Alex Kapranos, Franz Ferdinand's front man, to Pete Doherty, indie music has hit the fashion industry hard in recent years - and to good effect.
The idea of popular music artists starting fashion trends is not an alien one; indeed, it is a phenomenon that has gripped our society for decades. During the 1960s in the heyday of The Beatles, many men would wear their hair long, inspired by the style of the Liverpudlian songsters. Similarly, in the 1980s, Michael Jackson's legendary red zipper jacket - made famous in music videos for Beat It and Thriller - was all the rage, with both men and women donning the fashion item. These clothes helped spark the fashion sense of many generations, as people took inspiration from their favourite musicians in order to create their own look and define the fashion atmosphere of an era.
Today, a variety of modern musicians have helped engender new trends in men's fashion. Modern rockers Kasabian for example, are featured in the 150th anniversary ad campaign for British fashion label, Burberry. Moreover, Pete Doherty's relationship with British supermodel Kate Moss has made him a staple figure not just in the mainstream press but in the fashion world as well. Indie rave and electro acts, such as The Klaxons and Brazilian scenesters CSS, have also had a significant impact on musical fashion, with The Klaxon's bright neon t-shirts and jeans engendering a new generation of cool.
Music and fashion have become so intertwined that the NME's annual music awards have even incorporated the category of 'Best Dressed Artist' in their annual NME Awards Show, this year held on March 1st at Hammersmith Palais. The category is sponsored by Topman, a popular fashion retailer who continue to lead the way in men's clothes and men's fashion. Last year's nominees included Pete Doherty, Alex Kapranos, The Killers' Brandon Flowers, Liam Gallagher and the eventual winner, Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs. The proliferation of indie-rock figures here clearly indicates the influence of such artists in the men's fashion industry today - a trend which is sure to continue into the future.

Fashion Weeks

Author: Tania Machowska

Fashion Weeks are events held by designers or fashion houses to display their latest designs and creations to the world's media and fashion buyers. Catwalk shows are the mainstays of these weeks which are held around the world and which attract mass attention globally. The primary fashion weeks are held in the style capitals, London, Milan, Paris and New York, but there are many others that take place in lesser known areas of the fashion world, and are designed to draw people's attention to less prominent designers. These include Australian Fashion Week, Japan Fashion Week, South Africa Fashion Week, and Los Angeles Fashion week. In the main fashion cities, fashion weeks are held twice a year, displaying 'autumn' trends and their 'spring' collections. These are held a long time in advance of the actual season to allow adequate coverage and previews of the designs before the actual season. This is also done to give buyers a chace to purchase the designers' creations, and so retail stores can use elements of the designers' styles in their mass produced clothes for the High Street market.
Fashion Weeks are attended by buyers for major stores, the media, celebrities, and members of the entertainment industry. In years gone by, fashion weeks were predominantly used as commerical events, and only people in the industry attended them. Today, however they are lavish, exclusive events, attended by many celebrities and cause a media frenzy. The week is a 7-day extravaganza which often includes live music, lavish galas and charity events. Some shows are also open to selected members of the public, as well as some of the events that display the designer's latest handbags, jewellery, shoes, hats and cosmetics. Many important fashion design schools now feature in contemporary Fashion Weeks as well.
Fashion Weeks have been around since 1943, when the first one was held in New York to divert attention away from French fashions during the Second Worl War, when fashion industry insiders were unable to travel to Paris to see French fashion shows. Fashion publicist Eleanor Lamber staged a "Press Week" for fashion journalists to present the creations of American designers, who were not usually paid any attention by the fashion media. The buyers were not invited to these shows but instead had to visit the designers' showrooms. Press Week was an unprecedented success, and fashion magazines like Vogue, which were normally filled with French designs, beagn increasingly to focus on American fashion.
Some beauty products sponsor fashion weeks, such as the L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival and the L'Oreal Fashion Week held in Toronto, due to the inherent relationship between fashion and beauty. Other fashion weeks are held for one precise type of fashion, such as swimwear, lingerie, or bridal couture. Fashion weeks are viewed as the designer's way of making their collections visible and broadcast throughout the world in a very short space of time. This shortens the time in which it will take for people to start recognising, buying and following the designer's trends, which in the end is the designer's ultimate aim.

The Advantage of Buying and Wearing Fashion Jewelry

Author: Kirk Peterson

The times are really getting harder and harsher. Because there is a pending and apparent economic crunch anywhere in the world, it is easy to realize that the number of robbers and thieves is really rising. But because there is a constant need to be fashionable, there is a need to wear jewelry, especially for the fashionably conscious people. But how secure and safe could you be when you decide to wear jewelries during important occasions? Do not fret. There surely is a fashion jewelry that would suit your taste.
What is fashion jewelry? Those who are not familiar with the word would readily assume that fashion jewelry is a piece of fashionable jewelry. Yes, it is true. Fashion jewelry entails fashion and beauty. But more than that, fashion jewelry is a piece of accessory that has less actual valuation that it really looks like. In other words, the words may be harsh, fashion jewelries are fake jewelries.
When you say fake, that means the materials by which every fashion jewelry is made up is fake or is not really expensive. For example, a gold necklace would not really be a gold necklace if it is a fashion jewelry. In such case, the gold in the necklace is not really gold but a material that is tarnished or colored to make it appear like it is actually and genuinely gold.
Buying fashion jewelry
There is a market for fashion jewelry. That is because as long as there are budget conscious people, as long as there are wise and fashionable consumers, there would always be buyers of fake jewelries. As long as there are fashionable and extravagant people who could not really afford expensive and premium priced jewelries, there would always be demand for fashion jewelry.
If you are aiming to buy a set of jewelries to suit you get up for an important occasion, why not consider buying fashion jewelry? Nowadays, people would not really care if somebody is wearing fashion jewelry. As long as the wearer could carry the items in fashion and he or she looks good and elegant on them, there would be no questions asked.
Buying fashion jewelry is also made easier nowadays. To make a purchase, all you have to do is to go the nearest and reliable jewelry store. You could easily spot a section of displays for fashion jewelry. Notice that modern fashion jewelries are exquisitely beautiful and gorgeous.
Online purchases of fashion jewelry is also made more feasible and convenient. To do so, all you have to do is to log on to the Website of an online jewelry store or online auctioneer or shopping store. Find and look for fashion jewelry brochures and presto, choose the design and styles you want. Consider the overall get up and design of the clothes you would wear before finally ordering and buying the appropriate fashion jewelry for you.
The advantage of wearing fashion jewelry
The first and primary advantage of wearing fashion jewelry is its relative low cost. Yes, because fashion jewelries are fake jewelries, it is expected and logical that the tag prices are not as significant and as expensive as the premium and genuine expensive jewelries. For example a gold fashion jewelry would naturally cost significantly cheaper than the actual market cost for real gold jewelry.
However, despite the big difference in pricing, it would be amazing that fashion jewelries are still looking as elegant, as gorgeous and as breath-taking as any other expensive jewelries in the market today. The dangling appeal and the fancy reception of bystanders and admirers to fashion jewelry is at the same magnitude as the adoration provided and paid to real and genuine expensive jewelries.
Another advantage of wearing fashion jewelry is that you would have a sense of safety and security. If ever you would be robbed while wearing the jewelry, you could be sure that you are not standing to lose a significant amount of money or asset. Fashion jewelries are cheap so you could easily buy hundreds of them anytime you desire. And you could easily dispose them if they already not usable.
Burglars and thieves certainly would not like it if people would heavily patronize fashion jewelry. That means that the robbers' efforts to steal and forcefully take a precious jewelry would be futile if they would be robbing fashion jewelry.

The World Of Fashion Design

By Michelle Bery

The world of fashion is one that has the eyes and ears of a vast amount of people; we watch television, read magazines, and stay tuned to see what the rich and famous are wearing from day to day – and we follow suit. Fashion can change perceptions, impact an entire retail economy, and influence a generation. It's no wonder that more and more people are interested in joining the world of fashion design.
Fashion design entails the creation and manufacturing of clothing styles. Fashion designers work based on seasons – they design, create, and then introduce their line of clothing on the fashion runways. The clothing that is well-received suddenly makes its way to Hollywood where actors and actresses come decked out in the latest fashion to the latest movie premiers. And what happens on that carpet trickles down to the masses making its way to retail outlets all over the country in more affordable forms.
Fashion design can be a fantastic career journey but it requires a vast amount of skill, education, and hard work. Those interested in fashion design should already possess an innate ability to create beautiful design and effectively communicate them on paper. Such creative fashion enthusiasts should be sure to supplement their skill with formalized education. A fashion design school will teach the fundamentals of design, drawing to scale, textiles, fabrics, sewing, and manufacturing. An education such as this can open up many doors in fashion design.
Following a school program – or even in conjunction with a school program – those pursuing a career in fashion design should be sure to involve themselves in an internship or apprenticeship with a reputable design house. The experience gained in this capacity is unmatched and will begin building your portfolio – your most important tool in a fashion design career.
Fashion design can be a wonderful career filled with adventure, creativity, and a chance to influence clothing choices all across the nation and even around the world.

Venezuela Fashion

By Josh Riverside

Fashion is an integral part of the people of Venezuela. The country has always been associated with a great fashion sense and has seen many legendary beauties in the beauty pageants. Venezuelan fashion is known to be exotic and unique, making it an important feature of world fashion market.
All the various accessories and makeup articles that are required for the upkeep of beauty are in great demand. Hence, the corresponding industry for fashion goods has also increased to keep up with the demand.
Fashion does not restrict itself to clothing. It can also incorporate a wider concept including hairstyles, nail paints, footwear, and even makeup. The people of Venezuela are very conscious about the way they dress and look, and hence great care is taken to stay abreast with the changing fashion trends. It is therefore no surprise that a lot of money is spent on designer clothing. Branded clothing can even be found in some of the remotest parts of the country. This fashion sense is not only prevalent in the youth section of society but also among the adults.
With the beauty pageant having such an important place in the lives of the Venezuelans, it is but natural that fashion designers and fashion houses are of great importance. Venezuelan domestic fashion houses deal in lot of politicking to be the official fashion house for the contestants. Venezuela has produced top designers such as Mayela Camacho, Ángel Sanchez, Durant & Diego, and Jose Maria Almeida, who are names to reckon with in the international haute couture arena.
The ever-increasing fashion scene has not only increased the number of fashion designers but also given rise to several jobs related to the fashion market. Tailors, makeup artists, hairstylists and many other jobs dependant on the fashion market have sprung up over the past few years. Modeling has also seen a parallel rise in the fashion market and Venezuelan models are some of the most sought after in the world today.

Fashion Fiesta Wrapped In A Week

By Gaurav Doshi

Creative sensational from different parts of the world taking style, beauty and definition of fashion to its edge, promotional linchpin of a multibillion-dollar industry, I am talking about nothing else but Fashion Weeks. Fashion weeks are hallmarks of fashion industry to rollout the new season feel in fashion. They generally last up to a week allowing fashion designers, artists and fashion houses to display their latest collection. It hallmarks next seasons in things, that's why it is very important for buyers, media, celebrities and entertainment industry who take that fashion among the general public.
The most famous fashion weeks are held at Fashion Mecca Paris, Milan, London and New York. Since the new millennium fashion weeks are held in different parts of the world to put the local fashion on the world map and making a packed fashion calendar throughout the year. A refreshing sense of national identity and pride has emerged from the achievements of fashion sector - something that was otherwise traditionally been restricted to feats of sporting prowess, adding that its benefits go well beyond the fashion world (Emling 2006).
Fashion weeks are held several months in advance giving chance to designers, media and buyers to preview the trend for the next season. Fashion weeks are bi-annual events; the fashion weeks conducted between January and March are called "fall fashion weeks" whereas the one conducted in September through November are called "Spring Fashion Weeks". Some fashion weeks can be genre-specific, such as a Miami Fashion Week (Swimwear), Prêt-a-Porter (ready-to-wear) Fashion Week, Couture (one-of-a-kind designer original) Fashion Week, Palm Springs Fashion Week (Resort Collections) and Bridal Fashion Week.
History
Omission of fashion week history would be curious at this point of time. Let me throw some light on that. Edna Woodman Chase—former editor of Vogue organized "Fashion Fete," in 1914 to benefit the war-relief effort which is often apocryphally called the first fashion show ever. By the 1920s, the fashion show had gone mainstream. Early shows were often more theatrical than those of today.
