Summer is by far the most casual of the seasons; more because we want to wear less due to the heat. But it brings to light a good question; what is hot and what is not at the office, the beach and just out for a day at the market?
This is where summer casual comes into play most often. This summer season is no different. High-waisted trousers paired with French cuff shirts and suspenders are all the rage. Pair a sleeveless dress with fitted jackets and you'll be ready to go to dinner straight from the office. If it's casual Friday, wear solid colored Bermuda-style shorts and cinched-waist shirts with your favorite pair of embellished sandals for an added kick.
On the weekends, slip in to the ultra casual and go for a pair of shorts. With all the styles out there, how do you stay sexy but cool? Well, if the international catwalks have anything to say about it, it won't be hard. Most of the styles out there this summer were barely covering mid-thigh, setting us up for another season of 'very-short' short-shorts.
Put together with a sheer top or an embellished tank, you'll be a hit at the market. If you're headed to the kids soccer game, throw on a nylon sports jacket and a visor with those denim short-shorts - a pair of ballet-style sneakers will have you fit for whatever event may come your way.
At the beach, the bikini is out and the one piece is in! What's interesting about this season's one-piece is that is really only covers about as much as the traditional bikini. With deep V necklines, high cuts at the thighs and linear cuts at the sides, you'll be showing more skin than you realize. Bright florals bring a taste of Latin American flavor to the beach while crochet cover-ups hide any parts you're not comfortable with. Big sunglasses keep the sun out and keep you looking glam.
The mini is back and better than ever! Whether in metallics, denim or cotton, these show off your legs like no other skirt can. All across the international catwalks of Milan, Paris, London and New York, bottom skimming shirts are showing up everywhere, without a stitch underneath! If you can find something, it's at most a pair of barely-there short shorts.
No matter how you slice it, summer is all about showing your skin. Tops, bottoms and swimsuits are made to let you show off your assets. Be sure to choose things that are appropriate for your body type and size and, most important, enjoy the sun!
